What an amazing summer we’ve had this year!  For those of us who braved the summer by holidaying here in the UK instead of jetting off to distant shores, we have been truly blessed!  It’s just so lovely to make the most of our glorious country in the sunshine instead of hiding away indoors whilst the rain pours down!

We thought we would share some amazing locations that we here, at Bell and Blue have been lucky enough to head to this year.

STAY The Scarlet, Cornwall

scarlet

For a weekend away that makes you feel like you’ve been away for a week’s holiday, the Scarlet is a really special place that you can hide away and unwind with views of the Cornish sea from all over the hotel.  The Scarlet is an eco hotel and uses only local produce on their menus which makes for inventive yummy dishes full of flavour.  The spa is total luxury, so whether you want a cliff top hot tub to watch the sunset or have a nap in one of the giant beanbags dotted around the gardens then this is totally the place to go!  I spent most of the time listening to the sea with my head in a book, nibbling on a Cornish cream tea – total bliss!  Oh and local fish and chips at Rick Steins is a must if you can drag yourself away from the hotel itself!

VISIT Blakeney Seals, Norfolk

seals

Going to visit the sales is a perfect way to spend your 6 year old's birthday, and that is what we did this year!  At the heart of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Blakeney National Nature Reserve boasts wide open spaces and uninterrupted views of the beautiful North Norfolk coastline. The four mile long shingle spit of Blakeney Point offers protection for Blakeney Harbour and the surrounding saltmarshes, providing a perfect habitat for the vast array of residential and migratory wildlife.

The best way to see the wildlife on Blakeney Point is to enjoy a ferry a trip, departing from Morston Quay with some trips offering the chance to land on Blakeney Point and visit the Lifeboat House.  We saw loads of different types of seals, as well as many different sea birds, and it definitely was a birthday to remember!

EAT The Thatch, Devon

 thatch

Set in the quaint coastal village of Croyde in North Devon, is this delightful thatched pub.  Whether you’re fuelling up after a strenuous surf session at one of the many local beaches, or treating yourself to a well deserved pint (or a nifty G & T) after a busy day sun bathing, this pub has it all.

WATCH The Luna Cinema at Warwick Castle

warwick

The Luna Cinema is the country's leading producer of open air cinema events and we were lucky enough to catch the iconic 'Top Gun'.  Their screenings follow one simple formula:  a classic film on a big screen in a beautiful or prestigious setting.  And what a glorious setting Warwick Castle is - simply stunning!   If you have a Luna CInema date near you, I would definitely recommend for a truly delightful evening!
